Job Title: Thermal Systems Test Engineer (Cooling & Machine Validation) Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on Thermal Systems Test Engineer to develop deep technical expertise in machine cooling systems while working within a collaborative engineering team. This role partners closely with Cooling Engineers and Machine Validation Engineers to evaluate designs, develop and execute test plans, and provide data-driven insights to Product Design teams. The position combines technical ownership with practical, field-based work, including instrumentation setup, test execution, and troubleshooting on large machines. Location Peoria, Illinois Job Type Contract Compensation $31 – $34 per hour Work Schedule Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Education Requirement Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Key Responsibilities Plan, set up, and execute machine cooling and validation tests Analyze test data and deliver clear reports with actionable recommendations Collaborate with Cooling Engineers and Machine Validation Engineers on test strategies Support instrumentation setup including thermocouples, pressure transducers, and flow meters Troubleshoot test setups and machine systems during execution Coordinate with Machine Engineers to ensure machine availability and readiness Participate in design review meetings and technical discussions (often via teleconference) Take ownership of project planning and execution as experience grows Ensure safe and effective use of tools while working on large equipment Required Technical Skills Strong understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics Experience with instrumentation: Thermocouples Pressure transducers Flow meters Ability to design and execute test plans Hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Required Soft Skills High initiative and ownership mindset Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Willingness to perform physical tasks (climbing machinery, using tools, etc.) Strong focus on safety and operational discipline Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field 5–7 years of relevant experience in testing, validation, or thermal systems Internship experience may be considered Prior experience in roles such as Cooling Test Engineer or similar is a plus Ideal Candidate Profile Hands-on engineer who enjoys working directly with machines and test setups Comfortable balancing field work with documentation and analysis Strong problem solver with a practical engineering mindset Effective communicator who can translate test results into design insights
